This set consists of three distinct styles of stands for braiding kumihimo. This is a vintage set from 1970, still in the original boxes, and in excellent vintage condition. It includes:
maru-dai (round stand): serves as the most versatile, commonly used tool for creating intricate, braided, and knotted threads for kimono sashes, jewelry, and armor. Approximately 17" tall
kaku-dai (square stand): used to create flat or square, dense, and intricate braids. Approximately 30" tall x 20" long.
ayatake-dai (bamboo twill stand): invented in the Edo period, this tool is used for complex braiding, often creating patterns that allow for unique color gradients.
