Included in this packet are four samples of Japanese nishiki-ori (taquete´ 錦織) from the famous mills of the Nishijin District in Kyoto. Each is hand woven from filament silk, dyed with natural dyes. The same four colors have been used in each sample along with the same woven image. It is the arrangement of the warp and weft threads relative to one another on the jacquard loom that allows for such an amazing variation in the beauty of the results. This is a wonderful reference as well as teaching tool. |
