3 Waxed Kanoko Shibori Stencils: Weeping Plum Blossoms

Waxed stencils are used to transfer the intricate kanoko shibori designs to the yardage with the help of the disappearing ink called aobana. Each and every spot will be hand tied before dyeing and the intricate stenciled pattern helps to keep the tier from getting lost in all the knots.

 

The wax stencils presented here are vintage, from the 1960s, from the world famous city of Arimatsu – the shibori capital of Japan. All stencils are in excellent, used, condition and may be used from either side.
